I have 3 black n decker 12v drills (had one before I married, my husband had one already and we have a swivel head one too). I have a brand new battery (bought yesterday) as well as 3 older batteries. I have 3 chargers total and Not one of them will charge the batteries (new or old ones) adequately enough to drill even one hole in my cabinet. I have even tried charging them overnight. Two chargers are the type that plug into the drill itself when the battery is attached. The other charger is separate from the drill and holds a single battery pack. The separate charging pack has a red light on it but it does not light up. I have plugged them into multiple different a/c outlets.

It’s a cheap Black and Decker cordless drill, 18v. I would like to know what voltage tolerance it has(can I use a 15v power supply, how about a 24volt power supply?) and would like to know typically how many amps these cordless drills use under full load.
the Batteries are shot basically, and I can’t find a corded drill with the cordless features(torque settings etc.) so I wish to utilize these drills I have laying around, I was looking in catalogs and seems to me a good power supply I can find is a 15v with 10 amps continuous or a 24 power supply.
I hooked the drill up to my ex-tech variable voltage 3amp 0-30v power supply, my current limiter would keep tripping and can only screw a deck screw in about half way….
What would be a good power supply for this application, and I can’t seem to find the watts the tool draws, so I am not sure how big of a supply I need, or the voltage.

I am buying my dad a new Black and decker drill, for work. I was thinking that it might be fun if I wrapped his present with a new extension cord instead of ribbon and a bow. That way he gets a brand new drill, and a cord to power it with. Lol What do you think?
