It’s a Black and Decker KC1252 and the drill works fine. The batteries are fine too. The charger keeps conking out. I’ve had three now and for no apparent reason they just stop working. They just don’t give a charge to the battery. Is there some kind of fuse that blows?

  1. Call your B&D service center listed on your info that came with the drill. If it is a “firestorm” the cheap chargers that come with the dirll have a history of not perfroming well, especially if the battery is left on the charger for extended periods. There is a better charger offered (additional cost), check with the service center nearest you for this charger.

  2. Do the contacts in the charger become corroded after a time? You can clean them with a pencil eraser or fine sand paper (like emery cloth). It is possible an internal fuse is blowing but unlikely unless the charger is underdesigned. I have had problems with a number of Black and Decker products over the years and now avoid them.

  3. Something is wrong with the wiring in your building that is shorting out the charger. A Surge protector for voltage regulation would probably stop the frying.
