Is a B&D 12 volt drill strong enough to drill through brick? I’m looking to install a mailbox outside.

  1. Dr. Strangelove says:

You should be OK as long as your battery is fully charged, and your drill bit is sharp. Don’t force the drill, just let it drill in at a slow pace. Of course a hammer drill will do it much quicker if you had access to one.
Take my advice and drill into the joints if possible rather than the bricks. The cement joints are much softer. Many bricks are kiln fired and can be quite hard. With the right anchor bolts, you won’t have any problems with the joints holding the mailbox.

  2. It’s not so much the drill as it is the bit. You will want a corded drill, but you’ll be able to do it on the lower gear setting and maybe two charges.

  3. It should handle the job just fine. Make sure you use a good concrete bit.

  4. Heck yeah!
You do have all day, right?

  5. no you need at lest a 15V
